How to get to Cuenca: It is important to remember that there are no direct international flights to the city of Cuenca. For this reason, to get to Cuenca from abroad, it will be necessary to arrive in Quito or Guayaquil. In either of these two cities you can arrive on a direct flight to Cuenca. ​

Distance from the airport to the historic center: From the airport to the historic center of Cuenca there is a distance of 3.6 km and the journey time is approximately 15 minutes. ​

 

Climate and Height: It has a humid temperate climate with a maximum temperature of 24°C and a minimum of 9°C and its height is 2550 m above sea level. ​

 

Clothing: Although it has a temperate climate, it is recommended to dress in layers, since the weather can change during the day. Clothes should be designed for a sunny day and at the same time for a rainy day. ​

Currency: The official currency is the US dollar. USD 50 and USD 100 bills are generally not accepted, so small bills are recommended. ​

 

Transportation: Cuenca has a tram system that costs USD 1 per trip. In addition, there is the option of acquiring a card with a price of USD 1.70, which can be recharged with trips. Using this card, each trip costs USD 0.35. Unlike other cities, Cuenca does not have applications like Uber. Instead, it has a network of taxis that covers the entire city, and all of these operate under the taximeter system. ​

 

Electric current: Electricity and voltage have an intensity of 120 volts (v) and a frequency of 60 Hertz (Hz). For their part, plugs in Ecuador are type A and type B. ​
